COMMERCE TOWNSHIP — The end of the road came Friday night for Rochester Adams.

Zac Leimbach finished the night 10-for-15 passing for 192 yards and a pair to touchdowns in downing the Highlanders 14-13 for a Division 2 district title.

Leimbach hit Ramon Alexander down the middle in the fourth quarter, and the senior used his track speed to take the 53-yard scoring toss for paydirt. Ryan Kutcher made both crucial extra points for the Vikings, the second which proved to be the game-winning point.

Shane Daykin had three catches for 42 yards for Central, and his 5-yard TD catch in the second quarter gave the Vikings the lead.

Adams clawed to within 14-13 with 4:43 left when Andrew Hammett caught a 27-yards strike from Tony Annese. The extra point was missed.

Annese had tied the game just before the half when he raced in on a 23-yard keeper.

The Vikings (10-1) chewed up the rest of the clock down the stretch, gaining several first downs, the clincher with 1:33 to play on a fourth-and-long situation by K.J. Schultz.

The Highlanders, who were making their 14th straight postseason appearance, finished the year 8-3. It was the first time in a month that Adams’ starting defense gave up a touchdown since a Week 7 loss to top-ranked Farmington Harrison.
