Haelewyn, Lynch Named to Summit League All-Tournament Team
BROOKINGS, S.D. – Senior Dani Haelewyn and junior Sarah Lynch were both named to The Summit League All-Tournament team, which was announced by the league office on Sunday. Both players were also named to the All-Summit League first team earlier this season.
Haelewyn, a midfielder from Rochester, Mich., scored the lone goal for Oakland in the team’s 1-1 draw in the semifinals of The Summit League Tournament. She also converted her spot kick in the shootout. When it came to facing league opponents, Haelewyn was the best player in The Summit League this season with six goals, five assists and 17 points in 10 league games. She finished her final season at OU with eight goals, seven assists and a Summit League best 23 points in all competitions.
Lynch, a midfielder from Mississauga, Ontario, Canada, was a constant threat in the tournament with two shots and a tireless effort in the midfield. Lynch also converted on her penalty kick during the shootout. Lynch finished the season with seven goals, four assists and 18 points.
The Golden Grizzlies were The Summit League regular-season champions with an 8-0-1 league record. The team set a league record with 25 points and equaled the record for league-wins in a season. OU tied with Western Illinois in the semifinals of The Summit League Tournament. The Fighting Leathernecks advanced with a 5-4 shootout win in the tournament, as Oakland finished the year with a 12-5-3 record.
