MONDAY’S ROUNDUP: Oakland Christian holds off Waterford Our Lady

WATERFORD — Auburn Hills Oakland Christian staved off a late comeback to hold off host Waterford Our Lady of the Lakes Monday in a boys basketball season opener, 53-51.

WOLL led 31-29 at the half, with Oakland Christian going on 14-9 surge in the third quarter to go up 43-40 entering the final frame. The Lakers held a 11-10 edge in the final

Andrew Kern scored 20 and Drew Perrin added nine points for Oakland Christian (1-0).

Garrett Ross scored 22 and Austin Karbowski added 17 points for WOLL (0-1).

OKEMOS 75, OXFORD 40: Okemos is one of the better Class A programs in the state the past several years and the Chieftains proved that to Oxford Monday in the season opener for both teams.

Chris Harrison-Docks, with several Division I scouts in attendance, scored 23 point for Okemos (1-0). Mac McKearney added 17 points for the Chieftains.

Mike Kitchner and Mark Hazelwood scored nine apiece for Oxford.
