Fourth quarter run helps Southfield trip up Clarkston

CLARKSTON — Southfield used a 21-13 run in the fourth quarter to upend Clarkston 63-60 in a game featuring the OAA Red Division boys basketball co-champions of last year.

Clarkston led 18014 after the first quarter and 34-25 at the half. Southfield, which reached the Class A Final Four last season, used a 16-13 surge in the third quarter to close the gap to 47-41 before the Bluejays stole the game way with the late spurt.

Carlton Brundidge led all scorers with 23 points. Desmond Barnes added 11 points and Landon Atterberry also reached double figures with 10 points for Southfield (3-2, 1-0).

Nick Tatu scored 14 to pace Clarkston (1-3, 0-1), off to one of its slowest starts in many years. Jordan Dasuqi added 13 points, Marcus Hardy scored 11 and Mitch Baenzinger twined nine points for the Wolves.
