FRIDAY’S BOYS BASKETBALL: Everest stuns Waterford Our Lady in OT
CLARKSTON — Behind a 13-7 overtime effort, Clarkston Everest Collegiate turned back Waterford Our Lady of the Lakes Friday in a CHSL Tri-Intersectional contest, 62-56.
The Moutaineers led 25-13 at the half and 37-25 through three quarters before the Lakers ended regulation with a 24-12 spurt to force overtime.
Blake Beauchamp led a balanced effort with 18 points. Richie Cross added 11 points, Ben Marcial chipped in with 10 points, David Smith twined seven points and both Sam Bellestri and Steven Scott scored six apiece for Everest (10-5, 8-4), which only converted 15 of 30 free throw attempts.
Austin Karbowski scored a game-high 32 points, making 18 of 25 free throws, while Garrett Ross added 12 points for the Lakers, who were 25-for-37 from the foul line.
ROCHESTER HILLS CHRISTIAN 61, CLINTON TOWNSHIP FAITH CHRISTIAN 25: The Eagles sent every player into the scoring column and held the Patriots to just seven first-half points in recording a lopsided FBAC Red Division win.
Nathan Simon led Rochester Hills (13-8, 5-1) with nine points, three assists and three steals. Josh West had eight points, four assists and five steals, and Jason Li put up eight points, three steals and four rebounds for the Eagles, who led 22-4 at the end of the first quarter and 41-7 at the half.
Rochester Hills clinched no worse than second place in the conference with the win, but still have games against Lake Orion Baptist and a make-up game with league-leading Troy Bethany Christian left.
