Adams breaks out some punishment on Stoney Creek
ROCHESTER HILLS — Perhaps it takes an inter city rival to right the ship for Rochester Adams.
After venturing a month-long funk which took the Highlanders out of the OAA White Division boys basketball race, Adams rebounded in a major way Friday night. The Highlanders showed no mercy on Rochester Stoney Creek to the tune of a 70-37 whipping of the Cougars.
Adams used a game-opening 20-6 run and followed that up with a 22-9 second-quarter spurt to drain Stoney Creek of any hopes of a comeback. Adams led 42-15 at the half.
The punishment continued with a 28-22 run in the second half.
Tyler Curtis finished with eight points for Stoney Creek (4-11, 4-8). The Highlanders’ defense also held Alex Jones to just one point and Taylor Rawlings to only four points, as the Cougars top three leading scorers were held in check.
James Berger helped Adams break out of the slump, nailing five 3-pointers en route to 21 points to pace the Highlanders. Matt Nestor added 13 points, Akhemji Williams scored nine, Zack Littleson had seven points, and Mario Roveda scored six for the Highlanders (10-6, 8-5).
