TUESDAY’S GIRLS BASKETBALL ROUNDUP: Falcons explode for rout of Athens; Stoney Creek holds off Lake Orion

ROCHESTER HILLS — Wins have been hard to come by during Rochester’s major rebuilding campaign in girls basketball. The Falcons did capture perhaps their biggest win of the season Tuesday.

Rochester defeated Troy Athens in surprising fashion, rolling up a 57-35 OAA Red Divisoin triumpoh, just the Falcons; third win of the season.

Zhana Randolph scored 13 points and Stephanie Von Behren added 12 points for Rochester, which used an 18-2 run in the second quarter to open up a 31-15 lead at the half. The two teams were tied 13-13 at the end of the first quarter.

Kristin Garr and Teqwazha Terry added nine points apiece for Rochester (3-16, 2-12), which outscored the Red Hawks 276-20 in the second half.

Sinclair Russell scored 17 points and both Marisa Kozikowski and Haley Svircina added six apiece for Athens.

ROCHESTER STONEY CREEK43, LAKE ORION 38: Stoney Creek overcame a 22-15 halftime deficit to upend Lake Orion Tuesday in OA Red Division play. The Cougars grabbed a 30-18 lead through three quarters, then outscored the Dragons 13-10 in the fourth quarter.

Gabby Yurik scored 13 and Kara Kovack added 11 points to lead a balanced attack for the Cougars.  Emily Wood chipped in with nine points andKEri Scipione followed with six points for Stoeney Creek (11-7, 7-7).

Maddie Hutchinson scored nhine, Marissa Secontine added eight points and both Laura Turnbull and Dana Schrauben scored seven apiece for Lake Orion (8-11, 5-9).

ROCHESTER ADAMS 55, SOUTHFIELD 43: Adams outscored Southfield in three of the four quarters Tuesday and cruised to this OAA White Division win.

Jessica Lang led the charge with 14 points, Jocelyn McDougal scored 13 and Lauren Boyle also reached double figures with 10 points for the Highlanders (10-9, 7-7).

Amanda Love scored 17 and Noelle Hairston added 14 points for Southfield (5-14, 3-10).

CLARKSTON 38, DAVISON 30: The host Wolves moved to 14-5 on the year after winning just seven games last season, topping the Cardinals in non-league play Tuesday. Delaney Kenny scored 11 and Megan Hastings and Christina Jokisch both added eight points apiece for Clarkston, which closed with a 15-8 run after holding just a 24-23 lead entering the fourth quarter. Michelle Densmore scored eight for Davison, which trailed 19-13 at the half.

WARREN REGINA 56, WATERFORD OUR LADY OF THE LAKES 50: In this CHSL crossover, the Class A Satellites got the best of the Class D Lakers. Katy Jakubek scored 24 and Anna Marchese added 14 points for Regina. Carlee Cottrell scored 26, Lauren Roback added 14 points and Lexie Roback tinwed nine points for the Lakers, who trailed 42-29 entering the final quarter.

ROYAL OAK SHRINE 63, CLARKSTON EVEREST COLEGIATE ACADEMY 35: Halle Wangler and Cora Essenmacher created nightmares for the Mountaineers all night in this CHSL crossover Tuesday. Wangler had 32 points and Essenmacher scored 17 to account for 49 of Shrine’s 63 points. Sara Nallamother scored 13 for Everest Collegiate.
