MONDAY’S PREP ROUNDUP: Ng scores five as Rochester drops University-Liggett

GROSSEPOINTE WOODS — Aly Rosenau made 17 saves and Maggie Ng scored all five of her goals in the second half to lead Rochester to a 13-11 victory at University Liggett Monday in non-league girls lacrosse action.

The Falcons moved out to a quick 3-0 lead in the first five minutes, but University Liggett came back to tie the score at 4-4 by halftime.

Rochester controlled much of the second half, establishing a 13-7 with less than five minutes remaining before withstanding a late four-goal flurry by the Knights.

In the last two minutes, Sydney Jonas, Jordin Pardoski and Emily Skubic controlled the ball for Rochester to seal the victory.

Emily Skubic had 2 goals and 3 assists for the Falcons (2-0), Rachel Lohmeier scored

twice, and Jordin Pardoski, Emily Janik, Samantha Blair and Karoline Newer had one

goal each. Anne Sullivan scored 5 goals for University Liggett (0-2).

BASEBALL

WATERFORD OUR LADY OF THE LAKES 13-10, MARINE CITY CARDINALMOONEY 1-3: The Lakers opened up CHSL play Monday in Marine City with this twinbill sweep.  Austin Karbowski gained the win on the mound in the opener  and went 3-for-3 with a home run and two RBI for WOLL (4-0, 2-0) Ben Kotz had a home run and drove in three runs and Tyler Rogers went 3-for-3 with two RBI in Game 1 for WOLL. In the nightcap Marc Thomas was 2-for-4 with two RBI, Jared Ritch was 3-for-4 with RBI and Steven Scott added an RBI for Lakes.

ROCHESTER ADAMS 9, WARREN DELASALLE 7: Adams moved to 3-2 with a win in a game featured two perennial powers. The Highlanders scored three in the bottom of the sixth to grad a 9-6 lead and held on for the non-league win. Alex Chambery weas3-for-4 with three RBI and Andrew McBride was 2-for-4, and also drove home three runs for Adams(3-2), which only amassed seven hits. Jeff Olmack got the win while Kevin Jock gained the save. DeLaSalle dropped to 1-5.

SOFTBALL

ROCHESTER 12 ROYAL OAK 2 (6 innings): Rochester picked up 11 hits and opened the 2011 season by doubling up Royal Oak.  Jamie Trombetta was 3-for-3 with two RBI, Maggie Irvine was 3-for-4 with a double and scored twice and Kara Szymanski belted a two-run home run for the Falcons (1-0), who scored five runs in the last two innings to pull away. Martha Troy gave up seven hits and struck out three for the win from the circle.

WATERFORD OUR LADY OF THE LAKES-CLARKSTON EVEREST COLLEGIATE 13-19, BLOOMFIELD HILLS CRANBROOK KINGSWOOD 0-0: The Lakers erupted for this CHSL double-header sweep Monday on the road. Julia Matromatteo went 2-for-4 with three RBI and Michelle Cottrell went 2-for-3 and drove in two more runs in the. In Game 2, Mastromatteo went 4-for-4 an d plated three runs and Lauren Julianno drove home three more runs for WOLL (4-0).
