MONDAY’S GIRLS SOCCER ROUNDUP: Avondale finally tames Lake Orion

LAKE ORION — Since moving to the OAA Red Division four years ago, Auburn Hills Avondale could not seem to find the winning recipe against Lake Orion.

The Yellowjackets finally tamed the beast Monday night.

Avondale scored one goal in the first half and added two more goals after halftime for good measure to douse the Dragons 3-0 in an OAA Red Division girls soccer game.

Madison Duncan scored in the first half, while Alyssa Chapman and Xiadini Ruiz scored in the second half for the Yellowjackets. (5-1-0, 3-1-0). Ruiz, who scored on a penalty kick, also assisted on Chapman’s goal.

Andrea Strauss made seven saves for her second shutout of the season.

Lake Orion slipped to 3-3-1 overall and 0-2-1 in league play.

ROCHESTER 2, SAGINAW HERITAGE 2: Rochester moved to 2-3-1 on the yeqar with this non-league tie against the Hawks. Sofia Farah had a goal and an assist, Colleen Boreo also scored and Maria Lepore drew an assist for Rochester. Laura Ivezaj made three saves to earn the tie in goal.
