SOFTBALL ROUNDUP: Athens hammers Stoney Creek in twinbill sweep

ROCHESTER HILLS — Troy Athens continued its fastest start in several years Monday, sweeping Rochester Stoney Creek in an OAA crossover softball twinbill, 17-1 and 17-2.

The first game last four innings, while the nightcap lasted three.

In Game 1q, HaleyZemmer picked up five strikeouts,. No walks and allowed just one hit.

At the plate, she belted a three-run homer and finished with four RBI.

Jackie Klein and Mary Grace Stark both had RBI doubles, while Erica Siismets had a triple and Melissa Palmer and Meg Richter both scored three runs for the Red Hawks.

In Game 2, Zemmer went yard once again, blasting a grand slam and had five RBI in the contest for nine total in the two games. Sissimets added three hits and two RBI, Palmer had a tripoke, scored three times and drove home two others, and Crystal Watts plated three times and added two RBI for Athens (5-0).
