PREP BASEBALL: Athens holds off Avondale; Lake Orion cruises past Stoney Creek

TROY — Troy Athens kept pace in the OAA Red Division by topping visiting Auburn Hills Avondale 6-4 Monday.

Tommy Eng was 3-for-4 with two doubles scored twice and had an RBI to lead the Red Hawks (5-2, 4-0). Jacob Barger hit a home run and had two RBI for Athens. Alex Harrison tossed a complete game for Athens, striking out six while walking three. He gave up only four hits and three earned runs.

AJ Susick pitched seven for Avondale, striking out four, walking four and scattering six hits for the Yellowjackets (7-4, 3-3).

LAKE ORION 7, ROCHESTER STONEY CREEK 2: Leading 2-1 going into the fourth inning, Lake Orion scored four in the top half of the fourth to blow the game open and cruised to the OAA Red Division road win Monday over the Cougars.

Zack Zott was 2-for-4 which included a home run and two RBI to pace the Dragons, who collected nine hits. Dalton Oversen was 2-for-4 with and RBI, while Brett Wyss was also 2-for-4, scored a run and drove in another.

Nick Deeg went seven innings, giving up one earned run while striking out seven and walked threefor the Dragons (9-2, 3-0).

Mike McKinley had an RBI for the Cougars (9-5, 2-2).
