GIRLS LACROSSE: Athens downs Farmington; Lake Orion topples North Farmington

TROY — Kathryn Wellein was in on half of Troy Athens’ goals and the Red Hawks downed visiting Farmington 10-9 Wednesday in OAA girls lacrosse play.

Wellein scored four goals with an assist to pace Athens (4-7-0).  Jena Peterson added two goals and an assist for the Red Hawks.

Lauren Anderson had five goals and Christina Pederson added three goals for Farmington.

LAKE ORION 14, NORTH FARMINGTON 6: The Dragons showcased plenty of offensive talent Wednesday in this OAA White Division rout.  Ronnie Booth and Paige Hammerl scored three goals apiece to pace Lake Orion (7-4-0). Nicole Blovet added two goals for the Dragons, who had nine players tally at least one goal. Mallory DeMott, Carly Brooks, Rachel Cech, Kaileen Tweedie, Jessica Smude and Ashley Dakki each scored once for the Dragons,while Smude added two assists and Dakki had one assist. Sophomore goalie Beth Giguere led the defense with nine saves and only gave up one goal in the second half.
