ROCHESTER HILLS — Rochester College baseball also picked up alate signing from recent Birmingham Detroit Country Day High School graduate Andrew Schlader, a resident of Oxford.

The 6-foot-1 185-pound Schlader joins the Warriors after leading his Yellow Jackets to a 2011 Division 2 district championship. As his team’s captain, Schlader batted at a .514 clip while earning All-Oakland County Honorable Mention, All-District, All-Region and All-State Second Team honors is his senior season. The speedy outfielder also notched All-District honors in his junior season.

In his high school career, Schlader earned seven varsity letters, three in baseball and four in football.

“We saw Andrew for the first time at a Michigan Baseball Top Prospect showcase,” said Rochester College coach Jordan Ackerman. “His 60 yard dash time ranks among those of professional outfielders. He has great abilities as an athlete, but what impresses me the most is his focus in the classroom. He graduated with high academics honors and earned himself an academic scholarship to supplement his baseball scholarship here at RC. There is no doubt in my mind that he is ready to compete at the college level. With hard work in the up and coming months, he could notch himself into an everyday player role.”
