SATURDAY’S FOOTBALL ROUNDUP: Lakes rolls Riverview Richard; Notre Dame Prep thumps Ann Arbor Richard

WATERFORD — Using six different running backs, Waterford Our Lady of the Lakes chewed up plenty of clock and yardage Saturday to cruise past Riverview Gabriel Richard in CHSL Tri-Sectional football contest, 28-7.

Jake Doetsch led the charge with seven carries for 60 yards and scored a pair of rushing touchdowns, both on 5-yard runs, for WOLL (2-1, 1-0).

Mitch Lacceski picked up 88 yards on 10 carries for the Lakers, who amassed 208 total rushing yards.

WOLL Led 14-0 at the end of the first quarter and 21-0 heading into the fourth quarter, never allowing Gabriel Richard (1-2, 0-1) back into the contest. Sean Thomas scored on a 10-yard sprint and Vinny Puma also scored a touchdown for Waterford Our Lady on a 5-yard surge.

Doetsch also added three extra points and Christian Heiss chipped in another for the Lakers.

Michael Schigelone scored on a 2-yard plunge for Riverview Gabriel Richard (1-2, 0-1).

PONTIAC NOTRE DAME PREP 48, ANN ARBOR GABRIEL RICHARD 22: Notre Dame Prep made its seven straight wins and blew this CHSL crossover game open with a 20-point outburst in the fourth quarter.

The Fighting Irish led 21-14 at the half and 28-14 through three quarters of play.

Shane Frakes and Jacob Romeo both scored a pair of touchdowns  for Notre Dame Prep (3-0), which closed the 2010 season with four straight wins and is now unbeaten in three games this season.

Frakes scored on runs of 3 and 30 yards on bookend plays, while Romeo added a 14-yard TD sprint and scored another off a 90-yard interception return to spark the Irish.

Troy Sassack also got into the scoring act with touchdown runs of 14 and 38 yards, the latter which gave prep a 41-14 lead midway through the fourth quarter. Jeremiah Johnson added a 95-Yard kick return for Notre Dame Prep. Ruairi McGreevy was 6-for-7 on extra points.

Notre Dame Prep found itself in a 14-14 deadlock in the second quarter before Johnson’s kick return opened the floodgates for a 28-0 run to help put the Irish in control.

Evan Fosha scored on a 8-yard run,  Alex Ziolkowski added a 42-yard sprint and Nick Pauze on a 1-yard plunge for Ann Arbor Gabriel Richard (2-1).
