HOLLY— After dropping its first two games of the season, Holly continued to move towards the top half of the Flint Metro League and a potential playoff berth with its third straight win Friday. This time the Bronchos rolled to a 42-6 triumph over winless Clio.

Austin Hopkin had 156 receiving yards on five catches to pace Holly (3-2, 3-2). A.J. Lewandowski added 71 yards on 12 carries and scored a pair of touchdowns for the Bronchos.

Holly scored four touchdowns in the first quarter in building a commanding 28-14 lead. By halftime, the Bronchos led 42-6.

Shawn Williams opened with a 70-yard touchdown run to open the floodgates, while Hopkins hauled in a 21-yarde strike from Johnny Williams, Lewandowski added a 24-yard run and Patrick O’Conner added a 38-yard run in the first quarter.

In the second frame, Williams (30-yard run) and Lewandowski (4-yard run) also scored. Blake Ordiway was 6-for-6 on extra points.

ORTONVILLE BRANDON 21, FENTON 12: For the second straight week, the preaseason FML favorite went down, this time with the Blackhawks posting this nine-point triumph.

Brandon (4-1, 3-1) never trailed, building a 14-0 advantage by the mid-point of the second quarter. Shane Mahaffy’s 22-yard strike to Ryan Barnes and a 13-yard scoring toss to Cody Feltner put the Blackhawks in control.

Fenton (3-2, 3-2), state quarterfinalists last season in Division 2, picked up field goals of 31 and 30 yards by Kenny Allen, sandwiched around a 29-yard sprint by Jerad Wegener, to pull the tigers to with 14-12 entering the fourth quarter.

Brandon capped the scoring in the final frame when Blake Nivelt scored on a 5-yard run. Feltner nailed all three extra point attempts.

Mahaffy finished 10-for-24 passing for 125 yards for Brandon, which picked up a sterling defensive effort from Brandon Lee, who collected a pair of drive-stalling interceptions.
