ELMHURST, Ill. – Jeff Cheslik and Konner MacNamara were named Summit League Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week respectively, announced by the league office on Monday. It is the second time that Cheslik has claimed Summit League Player of the Week honors, while it is McNamara’s first time earning the award.

Cheslik, a midfielder from Northville, Mich. played a pivotal role in Oakland’s 2-1 double-overtime victory over Cincinnati on Sunday. With Oakland trailing 1-0 in the final minute, Cheslik headed the ball into the goal with just 20 seconds remaining to force overtime. The goal was Cheslik’s team-leading third goal of the season. As a defensive midfielder, Cheslik’s previous Summit League Player of the Week award came on the defensive side of the ball in 2009.

McNamara, a central defender from Mississauga, Ontario, Canada came forward to score the match-winning goal for the Golden Grizzlies in the 105th minute against Cincinnati. McNamara played all 195 minutes for the Golden Grizzlies in a pair of matches over the weekend and helped the Golden Grizzlies deal with eight corner kicks against the Bearcats without conceding a set-piece goal. McNamara shares the Summit League Defensive Player of the Week award with Western Illinois goalkeeper Andy Ryan.
