ELMHURST, Ill. – Oakland University junior Brittany Holbrook was named Summit League Offensive Player of the Week announced by the league office on Monday.  It is Holbrook’s first player of the week honor as she led OU to two victories over the weekend.

“This was a great weekend for Brittany,” said head volleyball coach Rob Beam.  “This week she was outstanding and I am really proud of all of her contributions, not only this weekend but over her entire two and a half years here.”

Holbrook, a middle hitter from Westland, Mich., led the Golden Grizzlies to an undefeated weekend over UMKC and South Dakota inside the Athletics Center O’rena.  Against UMKC, she had eight kills in only 12 attempts and against USD she earned another 8 kills.  For the weekend, she had a .571 hitting percentage and had only one error.  Oakland is now in fourth place in the Summit League standings.

OU is in action on Tuesday against IUPUI starting at 7 p.m. at The Jungle and home on Saturday against IPFW on Dig Pink Breast Cancer Awareness Night starting at 4 p.m.
