TUESDAY’S VOLLEYBALL ROUNDUP: Athens outlasts Groves; Stoney Creek sweeps Royal Oak
BIRMINGHAM — Troy Athens won the first, second and fourth games to outlast host Birmingham Groves Tuesday in an OAA White Division volleyball match.
The Red Hawks posted a 25-19, 25-23, 19-25, 25-17 triumph over the Falcons.
Lisa Lavelanet had nine kills and three blocks to pace the Red Hawks (20-20, 5-3). Rachel Senopole added 12 kills with two blocks and Danielle Cooper chipped in with 14 digs with five service points for Athens, which is tied in third place.
ROCHESTER STONEY CREEK 25-25-25, ROYAL OAK 16-16-16: The host Cougars inched closer to the OAA Blue Division title with this quick sweep of the Ravens Tuesday. Lisa Kisil slammed six kills and 10 digs to lead Stonety Creek (14-5-1, 7-0). Olivia Radtke added five kills and seven blocks for the Cougars. Sam Wingerter had seven kills for the Royal Oak.
WATERFORD OUR LADY OF THE LAKES25-25-25, DETROIT CRISTO RAY 9-11-20: Kali Bagley had 11 assists, four digs and two aces to lead WOLL to the CHSL win. Denise Valent and 12 aces and three kills and Lindsay Ross added four kills and three aces for WOLL (4-1 CHSL).
CLARKSTON 25-25-25, ROCHESTER 14-8-13: Stephanie Marani had 15 kills and five blocks and Maddie Lightfoot had 11 digs for Clarkston, which remained in a first-place tie in the OAA Red division lead with Lake Orion. The two meet Oct.18. The Wolves move to 30-2-4overall and 7-0 in the OAA-Red.
AUBURN HILLS AVONDALE 25-25-25, BERKLEY 23-11-23: Marisa Aiello had 10 kills and seven blocks as Avondale bounced back to remain in second place in the OAA Blue Division. Morgan Janes added 22 assists for the Yellowjackets (21-21, 5-1).
TROY 25-25-25, FERNDALE 15-14-21: Oliva Parks and Nicole Hahn each had 12 to pace Troy to the OAA White Division road win Tuesday. Michelle Stuecheli added 19 assists Lindsay Moeller had 14 assists for the Colts (14-14-5, 7-0).
