ROCHESTER HILLS — For the first time in 41 years, Rochester will not face rival Rochester Adams on the grid-iron. The Falcons had the next best thing Friday night, drawing Rochester Stoney Creek in the OAA Crossover Showcase at home.

Rochester did not disappoint, rolling to a 14-0 lead after the first quarter and cruising to a 35-10 triumph over the Cougars, who suffered their seventh straight defeat.

Cody Devoe scored three touchdowns, scoring on runs of 1, 3 and 5 yards to lead the Falcons (3-5), who won for the second straight week following a five-game skid.

Rochester led 21-10 at the half before tacking on single scoring drives in the third and fourth quarters to put the game away.

James Ward added touchdown runs of 12 and 39 yards for the Falcons’ other scores. John Doroshewitz hit all five extra points for the Falcons, who host Royal Oak  in the season finale next week.

TROY ATHENS 13, SOUTHFIELD 12: Troy Athens built a 10-6 lead at the half and used a third-quarter field goal to propel the Red Hawks past visiting Southfield in the OAA Crossover Showcase.

Sandy Mouch, who also starts for Athens’ soccer team, booted a 39-0yard field goal that not only provided the Red Hawks (6-2) with the game-winning points, but sends Athens into the Division 1 postseason field for the first time since 2004.

Southfield led twice in the contest. Brandon Watkins scored first on a 2-yard run, but the ensuing kick was blocked by the red Hawks. The other was a 5-yard scamper from Watkins in the third quarter.

Athens built a 10-7 lead at the half, courtesy of a 37-yard boot from Mouch and a 3-yard plunge from Lonnie Jaynes.

The Bluejays dip to 5-3 and must win in Week 9 to ensure a postseason berth.

PONTIAC NOTRE DAME PREP 48, PINCONNING 14: The Fighting Irish set a new school record of 12 straight regular season wins, eclipsing the old mark of 11 set in the 1983 and 1984 seasons with this lopsided non-league road win Friday.

Notre Dame Prep (8-0) led 21-0 after the first quarter and 34-7 at the half. The Irish tacked on 14 points in the third quarter to build a 48-7 lead before yielding a late fourth-quarter touchdown.

Shane Frakes collected 157 yards on 14 carries and had a touchdown run of 46 yards in the rout to pace NDP. Jacob Romeo added 71 yards on 10 rushes and scored twice for the Irish, running in from 18 and 25 yards, respectively.

Dan Durkin had three touchdown passes and scored another on the ground. Durkin hit Troy Sassack from 30 and 10 yards out and he also connected with Steve Barker for another scoring toss.

Colin Lorenz scored on a 1-yard run and Garrett Rezler added a 3-yard run for Pinconning (2-6).

LINDEN 28, ORTONVILLE BRANDON 6:
Brandon dropped this flint Metro League game to Linden, which also dropped the Blackhawks into a second-place tie in the FML standings.

Matt Brown was 19-for-34 for 236 yards and three touchdowns passes to lead Linden (6-2, 5-2). Kevin Baker had five catches for 140 yards and three touchdown passes.

Shane Mahaffy was 18-for-30 passing for 200 yards for Brandon (5-3, 4-3). Dylan Everett had five catches for 70 yards for the Blackhawks.

DETROIT LOYOLA 37, WATERFORD OUR LADY OF THE LAKES 0: Loyola clinched a postseason berth at 6-2 in this CHSL crossover game Friday. Lakes dropped to 4-4 overall and likely out of contention for an at-large postseason berth.

ROCHESTER ADAMS 35, TROY 19: Adams built a 27-0 at one point and cruised to the OAA crossover win.  The Highlanders improved to 5-3 overall and must defeat Rochester Stoney Creek in Week 9 to reach the postseason.
