Rochester Adams swims to city championship

ROCHESTER HILLS — Rochester Adams claimed the unofficial city championship with a 120-66 OAA crossover girls swimming victory Tuesday over Rochester Stoney Creek.

The Highlanders also defeated Rochester this season.

Adams (8-3) captured first place in 10 of 12 events, including all three relays, to drown the Cougars.

Kristen Finney won the 200 IM (2:16.16) and 100 breaststroke (1:08.27) while she also swam a leg on two winning relays. Finney joined forces with Hanna Hunstad, Gabrielle Thivierge and Bianca Tiberio for a win in the 200 medley relay (1:54.32).

Krystal Karas added the 50 (25.20) and 100 free (55.19), Thivierge touched first in the 100 butterfly (1:03.25), Briana Blanda the 100 backstroke (1:05.43) and Keegan McCaffery the diving (229.30 points).

Karas, Finney, Hunstad and Tiberio broke the school record with a 1:41.39 clocking in the 200 free relay. Karas, Hunstad and Tiberio teamed up with Natalie Schmidt the 400 free relay (3:49.51).

The only wins Stoney Creek (6-2) could muster came from Rachel Watton in the 200 free (2:01.66) and Alisa Novelli in the 500 free (5:51.19).
