Clarkston, WOLL remain alive in regional play

LAPEER — Clarkston received a scare Tuesday night. The state-ranked Wolves left it as just a scare.

Flushing built a 1-0 lead on Clarkston before the Wolves rallied with three straight wins for 3-1 victory over the Raiders in a Class A girls volleyball regional semifinal at Lapeer West High School.

Clarkston, ranked third in Class A, will play Midland for the regional championship Thursday at 7 p.m., also at Lapeer West.

After falling 25-18 in Game 1, Clarkston (54-5-0) battled back for wins of 25-21, 25-20 and 25-18 to oust the Raiders for the second straight season.

Stephanie Marani had 17 kills to pace Clakrston. Rachel Dickerson added 15 kills, Kaley Konjarevich had nine kills and Madison Lightfoot chipped in 26 digs for for the Wolves.

Emily Wendling had 13 kills and Simone Gillum added 11 kills for Flushing.

CLASS D

WATERFORD OUR LADY OF THE LAKES 25-25-25-30, BIRMINGHAM ROEPER 13-17-27-28: Haley Howell had 40 assists, eight kills and four aces to lead WOLL to this regional semifinal sweep at Westland Huron Valley Lutheran. Kelly Meehan added 33 digs and Allison Samulon had 10 kills and three aces for the Lakers (28-6-4).
