RC women open with rout of Spring Arbor
ROCHESTER HILLS — Rochester College’s women’s basketball team opened up the season in fine fashion Wednesday.
The Warriors held visiting Spring Arbor to only 11 first-half points and posted a 45-29 non-league triumph at Rochester High School.
Sam Tomaschko led Rochester (1-0) with a game-high 20 points. Whitney Newsome added six points for the Warriors, all coming on three-pointers.
Defensively, the Warriors held Spring Arbor to a .262 shooting percentage, while RC shot only .367 from the floor in the defensive struggle.
Alex Glenn scored nine for Spring Arbor, which made only 11 fie3ld goals in the game.
