OU soccer lands three on All-Summit League squad

KANSAS CITY, Mo.John Timm was one of three Oakland men’s soccer players to earn All-Summit League honors, as voted on by the league coaches and announced at the league banquet on Thursday night. Jon Evans and Mitch Hildebrandt both earned second team honors.

A defender from Clarkston, Mich., Timm scored twice this season, including the match-winner against IUPUI to put Oakland into The Summit League Championships tournament. Timm also drew a key penalty in OU’s win over Eastern Illinois. A two-time team captain, Timm played over 1,400 minutes for OU this season as both a defensive and attacking midfielder.  He was one of four Grizzlies to earn Summit League Defensive Player of the Week honors during the season.

Hildebrandt earns his third All-Summit League selection of his career. The senior goalkeeper from Livonia, Mich. had three shutouts, all in league play. He equaled his career-high with 14 saves against Michigan and was named Summit League Defensive Player of the Week. He equaled The Summit League record with seven career league player of the week awards..

A defender/midfielder from Brownstown, Mich., Evans led the Golden Grizzlies with five assist. That included assisting on the match-winning goals against Cincinnati and Detroit. He is a player that has shined in pressure situations, earning back-to-back Summit League All-Tournament honors. He was named the Championship MVP in 2010.

Oakland will face No. 1 seed Western Illinois in the semifinals of The Summit League Championship on Friday at 6 p.m. ET at the Durwood Soccer Complex. UMKC is hosting this year’s league championship tournament. The Golden Grizzlies are the defending Summit League Champions.
