ELMHURST, Ill. – Oakland defensive specialist Alli Kirk garnered Summit League Co-Defensive Player of the Week honors, as announced by the league office on Monday.  It is the first time in the junior’s career she has won the award as she shares the honor with IUPUI libero Shari Bernhardt.

Kirk combined for 54 digs over two matches, a 6.75 dig per set average, as she helped the Golden Grizzlies go undefeated to end the regular season and clinch its first-ever league championship berth.  On Friday, she recorded 24 digs in a four-set win over IUPUI that clinched Oakland’s spot in the postseason tournament.  On Saturday, Kirk earned 30 digs to help secure a 3-1 victory over Western Illinois and the 18th win of the season, a school record for most wins in a season in the Division I era.

Oakland will play in the semi-finals of The Summit League Championship on Friday as they take on No. 1 seeded North Dakota State starting at 5 p.m. at Gates Sports Center on the campus of IPFW.
