Community Baptist burns Springfield Christian
SAGINAW — Saginaw Community Baptist outscored Clarkston Springfield Christian 24-14 in the first half and maintained the double-digit advantage in the second half to post a 44-30 non-conference boys basketball victory.
The Lions outscored the Eagles 12-8 in the third quarter while both team scored eight in the final frame.
Spencer Johnson scored 22 of his team’s 44 points to lead Community Baptist.
Andrew Alonzi scored 16 points and Niko Alonzi added 12 points for Springfield Christian.
STATELINE TOURNAMENT
CLARKSTON SPRINGFIELD CHRISTAIN 47, GAYLORD GRACE BAPTIST 46: Springfield Christian withstood a 22-17 fourth quarter by Grace Baptist to prevail in the Stateline Christian Thanksgiving Tournament. Andrew Alonzi scored 19 and Colin Rutland added 15 points for Springfield Christian. Lances Boughres scored 19 for Grace Baptist and Robert Hundy added nine points for the Lions.
ADRIAN BEREAN BAPTIST 58, CLARKSTON SPRINGFIELD CHRISTIAN 18: Berean Baptist opened the game with a 26-2 first quarter to ground the Eagles. Randy Helinski scored 16 and Nash Cook added 13 points for the bobcats. Andrew Alonzi scored 14 for Springfield Christian.
TEMPERANCE STATELINE CHRISTIAN 43, CLARKSTON SPRINGFIELD CHRISTIAN 37: Stateline led 18-14 at the break and held off the Eagles with a 25-23 second half. Jake Easter scored 17 points and Eric Morrissey added nine points for the Patriots. Niko Alonzi made a trio of 3-pointers and finished with 11 points and Colin Rutland also scored 11 for Springfield Christian.
