FRIDAY’S BASKETBALL ROUNDUP: Oxford holds off Brandon; Holly edges Lake Fenton

OXFORD — Oxford used an 11-7 fourth-quarter run Friday to pull away from Ortonville Brandon and post a 35-31 non-league girls basketball triumph.

Shelby Davis scored 11 to pace Oxford, which led 13-8 after the first quarter and 18-17 at the half. Michelle Gilmore added nine points and Miranda Murphy added eight points for the Wildcats (1-1).

Brandon, which tied the game at 24-24 entering the fourth quarter, was paced by freshman Katelyn Hendershot’s 15 points, including 9-of-12 from the foul line. Rachel D’Alio added six points for the Blackhawks (0-2).

HOLLY 44, LAKE FENTON 36: Holly rallied back from a 19016 halftime deficit to earn its second straight non-conference win Friday over host Lake Fenton. Holly went ahead for good with a16-6 third quarter run to go up 32-25 entering the fourth quarter.  The Bronchos kept the blue Devils at bay with a 12-11 edge in the final period. Lauren Maher scored 22 points, including a crisp 11-of-12 from the charity stripe and a trio of three pointers, to pace Holly (2-0). Alicia Allyssa Copley added 13 points for the Bronchos. Lake Fenton slipped to 1-1.

MADISON HEIGHTS BISHOP FOLEY 52, ROCHESTER HILLS LUTHERAN NORTHWEST 28: A 14-6 lead after eight minutes of play helped the Ventures venture past Lutheran Northwest in a non-conference game Friday. Bishop Foley led 32-11 at the break and 40-19 through three quarters of play. Jackie Bieniewicz scored 18 and Colleen Szakacs added 15 for Bishop Foley (2-0). Emma Wonsil scored nine for the Vuntures. Abbey Looker and Kim Lepor both had six points for Northwest (1-1).

ANN ARBOR GREENHILLS 49, AUBURN HILLS OAKLAND CHRISTIAN 43: Greenhills clamped down on Oakland Christian behind a 25-16 second half to earn this MIAC Blue Division win over the Lancers. Jenny Ostreich scored 22 and Megan Thompson adde3d 18 points for the Gryphons. Becky VanSloten had 16 points and 13 rebounds and Erin Washington added 10 points for Oakland Christian (0-2,0-1), which led 29-24 at the half.
