Bethany Christian trips up Lakecrest Baptist

TEMPERANCE — Troy Bethany Christian outscored Waterford Lakecrest Baptist in three of four quarter to upend the Defenders, 43-30, in the third-place game at the Stateline Christian Thanksgiving Tournament.

Bethany Christian built an 11-6 lead after the first quarter and extended the advantage to 14 points at the half thanks to a 17-8 second-quarter run.

Lakecrest outscored the Bruins 16-15 in the second half.

Mark Bishop led Bethany Christian with 17 points. Tim Susman added 10 points and Bret Hayhurst scored six points for the Bruins (2-1).

Blake Stutesman scored 14 and Austin Horton added 13 points for Lakecrest (2-1).

ADRIAN BEREAN BAPTIST 51, TROY BETHANY CHRISTIAN 33: Troy Bethany Christian was missing four players and the Bobcats took advantage in the semifinals Stateline Christian Thanksgiving Tournament.

Ryan Helinski scored 19 to lead Berean Baptist (2-1). Grant English added 10 points, Brendon Jackson scored nine and Drew Helinski added six points for the Bobcats.

Phil Drapinski scored 10 and Mark Bishop added eight points for Bethany Christian.

TROY BETHANY CHRISTIAN 42, TEMPERANCE STATELINE CHRISTIAN ‘B’ 22: Troy Bethany built a 20-6 lead the half and cruised to the first-round win over the Patriots. The Bruins held a 22-16 edge in the second half.

Daniel Sprankle scored 12 to lead Bethany Christian. Ryan Woodham added 11 points, Ajay Solomon scored 10 and Bret Hayhurst chipped in six points for the Bruins.

Eric Morrissey scored six for Stateline Christian’s ‘B’ team.
