WEDNESDAY’S BOYS BASKETBALL ROUNDUP: Shrine slips past Our Lady of the Lakes
WATERFORD — Out of the gates, Royal Oak Shrine Catholic used an 11-3 run to help create some distance and the Knights went on to slay host Waterford Our Lady of the Lakes, 68-56, in a CHSL crossover boys basketball game.
Shrine (1-0) led 30-16 at the half, before WOLL on a 22-17 third quarter surge to pull to within 47-38 entering the fourth quarter. The Knights closed out with a 21-18 fourth quarter.
Jeff Wausler led four Shrine players in doubles figures with 17 points. Mike Fravcek added 14 points, Steve Terrill scored 12 and Lorenzo Dewberry added 10points for the Knights.
Garrett Ross twined a game-high 22 points to pace WOLL (0-1). Jake Doetsch added 13 points while both Josh Grenn and Colt Moran added eight points apiece for the Lakers.
