CHRISTIAN SCHOOLS ROUNDUP: Watterworth sets record in win over Springfield Christian; Troy Bethany rolls
LAKE ORION — Breanne Watterworth set a single-game school record for rebounds and Lake Orion Baptist rolled over neighboring rival Clarkston Springfield Christian 43-25 in a Fundamental Baptist Athletic Conference Red Division basketball game Wednesday.
Watterworth pulled 26 boards in the victory to go along with 26 points, a season- and career-high.the 6-foot-2 sophomore center missed half of her freshman season with an injury.
TROY BETHANY CHRISTIAN 35, CLARKSTON SPRINGFIELD CHRISTIAN 15: Eight of 10 players reached the scoring column and Troy Bethany Christian moved to 2-0 with this FBAC Red Division win over the Eagles Thursday. Lianna Sprankle scored 10 to lead Bethany Christian (1-0 league play). Savannah Browning had 10 for Springfield.
NOVI HOME SCHOOL 41, ROCHESTER HILLS CHRISTIAN 34: Novi posted this non-conference road win Tuesday over the Eagles. Jenna Porter had 13 points, 14 rebounds and seven steals, Allise Dubay followed with 11 points and Ashley Parker picked up six points, 14 rebounds and three assists for Rochester Hills Christian (1-2). LAPEER FAITH HOME SCHOOL 74, LAKE ORION BAPTIST 49: Jonah Bogus was one of three Soldiers in double figures in this non-conference win Wednesday. Bogus finished with a game-high 21 points, while Luke Gabreyel added 16 points and Mark Gabreyel twined 14 points for Faith home School (4-0). James Noruk scored 18 points with six rebounds to pace Lake Orion Baptist. Mark Dewar added 13 points and eight rebounds and Jason Noruk chipped in with nine points and eight boards for the Lions.
