TUESDAY’S GIRLS BASKETBALL ROUNDUP: Rochester rolls over Farmington; Adams upends Oxford in overtime

FARMINGTON — After winning only four games last season due to an inability to score, Rochester gained an impressive road win Tuesday with a fine behind a fine defensive effort.

The Falcons rolled over host Farmington, 43-26, in an OAA White Division contest.

Rochester opened the game with a 13-1 blitz and allowed Farmington only three first-half points in building a 21-3 advantage at the half. Farmington outscored Rochester 23-22 in the second half.

Anne Tucker scored 14 points for Rochester. Lindsey Larivee added eight points and Abby Rawling scored six for Rochester (1-3, 1-0).

Aaron Howell finished with 10 points for Farmington (1-3, 0-2), the preseason favorite in the league which has been saddled b injuries. Tamera Anthony added six points for the host Falcons.
ROCHESTER ADAMS 42, OXFORD 38 (OT): Lauren Boyle forced overtime with a three-pointer at the buzzer and the Highlanders win on to win this OAA White Division contest.

Adams, which led 21-7 at the half, outscored Oxford 10-6 in the extra session to prevail.

Oxford used a 13-2 run in the third quarter to close to within 23-21 and outscored Adams 12-9 in the fourth quarter.

Taylor Houghtlin scored 15 points to lead Adams (2-2, 2-0). Boyle and Carissa Roveda both had six points apiece for the Highlanders, who scored 18 of their 42 points from outside the arc.

Michelle Gilmore scored 15 points and Shelby Davis added 14 points for Oxford (1-4, 0-2), which shot only 18-foir-30 from the foul line.

AUBURN HILLS AVONDALE 55, ROCHESTER STONEY CREEK 42: Avondale outscored Stoney Creek in the first three quarters and posted the win in the OAA Red Division opener for both schools.

Avondale led 17-8 after the first quarter and 28-18 at the half. The Yellowjackets extended the lead to 47-29 through three quarters of play thanks to a 19-11 run in the third period. Hannah Little led the charge with 18 points for Avondale (3-1, 1-0). Quennece Garrison added seven points and Loreal Farris scored six for the Yellowjackets, who bumped up to the OAA-Red after going 14-0 in the OAA-White last season.

Gabby Yurik scored 15 for the Stoney Creek (3-1, 0-1). Natalie Voss added 12 points and Lauren Voss twined six points for the Cougars, who closed with a 13-8 run.
SOUTHFIELD-LATHRUP 49, TROY 47: Defending OAA Red Division champion Lathrup picked up right where it left off a year ago, turning back Troy in this two-point nailbiter in the OAA-Red opener for both teams.

Troy outscored Lathrup 8-4 in the fourth quarter, but the comeback bid fell short.

Troy led 24-22 at the half and used a 23-15 third quarter to take a 45-39 lead into the final frame.

Amber McCullough scored 13 to lead Lathrup (2-1, 1-0). Michele Hayes added nine points and both Christina Green and Erica Longmire scored six apiece for the Chargers.

Karin Moss and Sydney Heath scored 11 apiece for Troy (3-1, 0-1). Katy McCuish added 10 points for the Colts.

CLARKSTON 41, PONTIAC 32: Clarkston moved to 4-0 on the season and to 1-0 in the OAA Red Division with this hard-earned road win Tuesday.

The Wolves, who trailed 22-15 at the half, used a 17-6 third-quarter blitz and a 9-4 fourth-quarter run to pull out the victory.

Erin Davenport scored 14 to lead Clarkston. Delaney Kenny added 10 points and Erika Davenport scored nine for the Wolves.

Amanda Miler scored 10 for Pontiac (1-1, 0-1), which shot just 5-for-12 from the foul line.
LAKE ORION 34, TROY ATHENS 21: Lake Orion held on for the win in the OAA White Division opener Tuesday despite being outscored 8-3 in the fourth quarter.

The Dragons (2-2, 1-0) led 12-4 after the first quarter and 21-9 at the half and did not allow the Red Hawks to score more than eight points in each frame.

Marisa Secontine scored 15 and Laura Turnbull added eight points for the Dragons.

Lauren Genereau scored seven and Sinclair Russell had five points and 10 rebounds for Athens (0-3, 0-1).

ROCHESTER HILLS LUTHERAN NORTHWEST 50, ROYAL OAK SHRINE CATHOLIC 38: Lutheran Northwest climbed to 4-0 on the season with this non-league road win Tuesday.

The Crusaders built a 26-11 lead at the half and led 37-20 entering the fourth quarter.

Kim Lepor scored 15 to pace Northwest. Kallie Washburn added 12 points and Abbey Looker twined seven for Northwest, which nailed seven three-pointers in the game and shot 12-for-17 from the foul line.

Seirra Wangler scored 14 and Reilly Carr added 11 points for Shrine.

ROCHESTER HILLS CHRISTIAN 45, CLINTON TOWNSHIP FAITH CHRISTIAN 35: Rochester Hills Christian used a 15-10 fourth quarter to pull away for the FBAC Red Division win.

Freshman Jena Porter scored 14 points with 123 rebounds and two blocked shots to pace the Eagles (3-2, 2-0). Allise Dubay added 11 points, seven assists and six steals, while Kinda Armitage had eight points and five steals.

Emily Hinsenkamp scored a game-high 23 points for Faith Christian (3-2, 1-1).
