Everest marches past Soldiers

CLARKSTON — Behind a 13-7 third-quarter run, Clarkston Everest Collegiate was able to open up a tight game and down Burton Genesee Christian, 46-38, in the consolation game of the Everest Holiday Tournament.

Everest led 15-9 after the first quarter and 30-22 at the half before opening up a 14-point cushion through three quarters of play with a 43-29 advantage.

The Soldiers closed with a 9-3 spurt to bring the final deficit down to eight points.

Donald Allen led the Mountaineers with 13 points. David Smith added eight points and Richie Cross scored seven for Everest (3-2).

Hunter Selby twined a game-high 19 points for Genesee Christian. Josh Coon added 13 points for the Soldiers (2-3).
