Auburn Hills Avondale

HEAD COACH: Pat Dodge, second season

2010-11 RECORD: 6-4, 4-3 OAA Blue Division (fourth overall).

LEAGUE FINISH: Fourth at OAA Blue Division meet (274).

OAKLAND COUNTY FINISH: 22nd (22 points).

STATE MEET FINISH: 31st at Division 2 state finals (3.5 points).

KEY RETURNEES: Christian Nault, soph.; Thomas Nowinski, jr.; Connor O’Hara, soph.; Kevin Yang, jr.; Justin Gray, jr.; Ryan Petersen, jr.; Tim Bajorek, jr.; Neil Damani, soph..

KEY NEWCOMERS: Adam Nofs, fr.;

NOTABLES: Avondale should be one of the more improved teams in the OAA Blue Division this season with a team of mostly juniors and sophomores. There is plenty of upside with this unit.

Clarkston

HEAD COACH: Kenwyn Chock, 13th season.

2010-11 RECORD: 4-3, 2-3 OAA Red Division (fourth overall).

LEAGUE FINISH: Fourth at OAA Red Division meet (254 points)

OAKLAND COUNTY FINISH: Fifth 19th at Division 1 state finals (29 points).

KEY RETURNEES: Steven Nelson, sr.; Isaac Young, sr.; Zach Rabideau, sr.; Eric Misteravich, jr.; Kyle Inch, sr.; Landon Holloway, jr.; Mitch McLouth, soph.; Patrick Bemis, sr.; Ryan Geisler, soph.; Michael Culver, sr.; Joey Zendejas, soph. (diving).

KEY NEWCOMERS: Dalton Pokley, fr.

NOTABLES: With seven seniors on a roster of 27, Clarkston should have enough depth to field a competitive team I the OAA Red Division, a destination the Wolves reached last season after starting its program in 1999-2000. A realistic goal of a top-10 finish at the Oakland County meet and perhaps enough state qualifiers for a top2-0 state –meet finish are in the works.

Holly

HEAD COACH: Not available.

2010-11 RECORD: Not available.

LEAGUE FINISH: Not available.

OAKLAND COUNTY FINISH: No points scored.

STATE MEET FINISH: 26th at Division 2 state finals (seven points).

KEY RETURNEES: Aaron DeHaven, jr.; Peyton Molzahn, soph.; Colin Banes, sr.; Garret Pinagel;

NOTABLES: With only 12 competitors, Holy will have to get as much out of its small roster as possible to contend in the Flint Metro League and beyond.

Lake Orion

HEAD COACH: Paul Fairman, 14th season.

2010-11 RECORD:  5-2, 3-2 OAA Red Division (third overall).

LEAGUE FINISH: Third at OAA Red Division meet (308 points).

OAKLAND COUNTY FINISH: Seventh (143.5 points).

STATE MEET FINISH: Eighth at Division 1 state finals (110 points).

KEY RETURNEES: DJ Seeds, soph.; Jacob Lindquist, sr. (all-state in breaststroke); Will Cavender, Daniel Pecheniuk, sr.; Zach Deiner, jr. (returning state qualifier); Brandon Nowicki, jr.; Charlie Maurer, sr. (Diving); Steven Abramczyk, sr.; Alex Palmer, sr.; Craig Matola, soph.

KEY NEWCOMERS: Devon Nowicki, fr.;

NOTABLES: Lake Orion is coming off another top-10 finish at the state meet and has set the same lofty goal for this year’s group. There is a quality senior class and some promising newcomers that will keep this team competitive but not enough to break into the top two in the OAA Red Division, occupied by Birmingham Seaholm and Birmingham Groves.

Ortonville Brandon

HEAD COACH: Not available.

2010-11 RECORD: Not available.

LEAGUE FINISH: Not available.

OAKLAND COUNTY FINISH: No points scored.

STATE MEET FINISH: No points scored at Division 2 state finals.

KEY RETURNEES: Jake Selak (diving); Jacob Iceberg; Ryan Schwerin; Seth Harding (diving); Jacob Dolecki.

NOTABLES: With a growing program and plenty of upside for a team that’s only been around for a few years now, Brandon should finish in the top half of th e Flint Metro League. Iceberg gives this team a bona fide state qualifier who could end up scoring at the Division 2 state finals.

Oxford

HEAD COACH: Jaqueline Rank, fourth season.

2010-11 RECORD: 5-3, 4-2 OAA Blue Division

LEAGUE FINISH: Sixth at OAA Blue Division meet (235.5 points).

OAKLAND COUNTY FINISH: No points scored.

STATE MEET FINISH: No points scored at Division 2 state finals.

KEY RETURNEES: Jarred Butler, jr. (already qualified for county and state meet in several events); Marco Camgiorni, soph. (diving); Matthew Campgiorni, sr. (diving); Joey Tasch, sr.; Erick Vandecar, soph.; Blake Hebron, soph.

KEY NEWCOMERS: Cheyne Stresky, fr.; Jared Tasch, fr.

NOTABLES: Oxford entered January with a 3-0 record and is one of the favorites in the OAA Blue Division this season after a middle-of-the-pack finish last season when the Wildcats switched from the FML to the OAA. This could also be the year that Oxford scores points at the county meet and Division 2 state meet for the first time, as Butler

Pontiac Notre Dame Prep

HEAD COACH: Eric Weaver, third season.

2010-11 RECORD: Not available.

LEAGUE FINISH: Not available.

OAKLAND COUNTY FINISH: No points scored.

STATE MEET FINISH: No points scored at Division 3 state finals.

KEY RETURNEES: Hayden Guerra, jr.; Brian Cain, jr.; Ruairi McGreevy, sr. Aidan Cullen, sr.; Alex Piotroski, soph.

Rochester

HEAD COACH: Paul Karas, third season.

2010-11 RECORD: 2-5, 1-4 OAA White Division.

LEAGUE FINISH: Fifth at OAA White Division meet (390 points).

OAKLAND COUNTY FINISH: 17th (44 points).

KEY NEWCOMERS: Several first-year swimmers.

NOTABLES: Rochester may struggle in dual meets against teams from the OAA Red and OAA White divisions, but they do have a half-dozen of big-meet competitors that will help them score their fair share of points at the county, league and state meets.

Rochester Adams

HEAD COACH: Tim Hickey, 19th season.

2010-11 RECORD: 1-6, 0-5 OAA White Division.

LEAGUE FINISH: Seventh at OAA White Division league meet (175 points).

OAKLAND COUNTY FINISH: 18th (37 points).

STATE MEET FINISH: No points scored at Division 2 state finals.

KEY RETURNEES: Cameron Clark, sr.; Brad Hassberger, sr.; Frankie Riviera, jr.; Jeffrey Cheng, sr.; Bobby Mrozinski, sr. (diving); Daniel Carniak, soph.; Thomas Steiner, sr.; Kyle Larson, jr.;

KEY NEWCOMERS: Ben Walling, fr.; Andy Oh, fr.

NOTABLES: Adams dipped to the bottom of its division last season and with a young team, it’s uncertain that the Highlanders will be able to climb higher than the middle of the pack. There are two quality freshmen in the mix, along with two juniors, one sophomore and five seniors that will do a bulk of the scoring.

Rochester Stoney Creek

HEAD COACH: Not available.

2010-11 RECORD: 7-2, 6-1 OAA Blue Division (second).

LEAGUE FINISH: Second at OAA Blue Division meet (415 points).

OAKLAND COUNTY FINISH: 19th (25 points).

STATE MEET FINISH: No points scored at Division 1 state finals.

KEY RETURNEES: Alex Yu, sr.; Kyle Walsh, jr.; Eric Heinrich, jr.; Chris Marten, sr.; Blake Adams, sr.; Mitchel Heinrich, soph.

KEY NEWCOMERS: Danny Olthof, fr.; Andrew Stolaruk, fr.

NOTABLES: Stoney Creek will make the return trip to the OAA White Division this season with a mix and experience athletes and a strong cast of freshmen.

Troy

HEAD COACH: Bob McHune, second season.

2010-11 RECORD: 3-4, 1-4 OAA Red Division (fifth overall).

LEAGUE FINISH: Fifth at OAA Red Division meet (211 points).

OAKLAND COUNTY FINISH: 15th (54 points).

STATE MEET FINISH: 22nd at Division 1 state finals (25 points).

KEY RETURNEES: Miles MacDonald, sr.; Rohan Tangri, sr.; Troy Chen, soph.; Chris Charters, sr.; Philip An, soph.; Erin Eckhout, jr.; Danny O’Donovan, sr.

KEY NEWCOMERS: Zachary Chen, fr.

NOTABLES: Troy is a team back on the rise with several big-meet performers returning, plus a quality freshmen class. This team could make a return to Oakland County’s elite this season and be a top 10 team in Division 1 before the season is complete.

Troy Athens

HEAD COACH: Beth Klinger, second season.

2010-11 RECORD: 3-5, 3-4 OAA Blue Division (fifth).

LEAGUE FINISH: Fifth at OAA Blue Division meet (251.5 points).

OAKLAND COUNTY FINISH: 19th (27 points).

STATE MEET FINISH: 32nd at Division 1 state finals (eight points).

KEY RETURNEES: Darwin Hsu, sr. (breaststroke, freestyles, relays; state placer in 200 IM, breaststroke); Tyler Garling, jr. (sprint freestyler, backstroke); TJ Petrinko, jr. (sprint freestyler); Andrew Britton, soph. (breaststroke, sprint freestyler, IM); Kenny Cao, soph. (backstroke, distance freestyler); Cory Smith, soph. (diving).

KEY NEWCOMERS: Mike Reynolds, jr.

NOTABLES: Klinger replaced veteran Dale Rahn last season and saw the Red Hawks record a middle of the pack finish. With most its team back, Athens could have the talent to move up a few laces I the standings this season.
