FRIDAY’S GIRLS BASKETBALL ROUNDUP: Clarkston topples North Farmington to remain perfect; Lutheran Northwest stops Oakland Christian

CLARKSTON — Behind a stellar 32-15 first half, Clarkston remained perfect on the season at 12-0 with a 58-42 girls basketball victory over North Farmington.

Megan Hastings scored 16 to pace Clarkston. Delaney Kenney added nine points, and both Anna Manila and Erika Davenport scored eight for the Wolves (12-0, 7-0).

Kaitlyn Kendall scored 13 and Jasmine Harris added nine for the Raiders.

Clarkston grabbed an early double-digit lead with a 20-8 run during the first quarter. By halftime, the Wolves were in complete control with a 32-13 advantage. By the end of the third quarter, the lead ballooned to 50-22.

ROCHESTER HILLS LUTHERAN NORTHWEST 55, AUBURN HILLS OAKLAND CHRISTIAN 37: The Crusaders gained their first win over Oakland Christian in several years with this 18-point MIAC Blue Division home victory.

Rachel TerMarsch scored 17 and Becky Vansloten added nine points for Oakland Christian.

Kim Lepor scored 24, Kallie Washburn added 17 points and Abbey Looker contributed eight point for Northwest.

The Crusaders slowly pulled away in the contest, leading 13-9 after the first quarter, 24-19 at the half and 40-26 through three quarters of play before closing with a 15-011 run.

HOLLY 38, LINDEN 29: Holly was downright defensive on Linden Friday night in Flint Metro League play.

Allyssa Copley scored 13 and Lauren Maher added eight points for Holly, which prevented itself from pulling away even further by making just 10-of 23 free throw attempts.

The Bronchos (9-5, 5-2) held the Eagles to just 13 field goals and two free throws in holding them to under 30 points. Jordan Sargent scored eight and Rachel Maxheimer added seven points for Linden.

Holy held Linden to single digits during the first three quarters in building a 25-18 lead at that point.


ORTONVILLE BRANDON 58, LAPEER EAST 18:
Although both teams are going through rebuilding years, apparently Brandon is further along at this point.

The Blackhawks raced out to a 17-4 lead after the first quarter and coasted to the Flint Metro League win. By the half, Brandon was in complete control with a 35-12 advantage.

Katelyn Hendershot and Rachel D’Alio both scored 15 to pace Brandon (2-10, 2-8).

Alex Watcott scored 10 of East’s 18 points, as the Eagles slipped to 0-10 overall and 0-8 in the FML.

ROYAL OAK SHRINE 55, CLARKSTON EVEREST COLLEGIATE 36: Sierra Wangler and Rosie Konczal both scored 10 to lead the Knights (2-10) to this CHSL win. Julianna Mastromatteo scored 12 for Everest (5-5).
