MONDAY’S GIRLS BASKETBALL ROUNDUP: Lakes blasts Shrine; Adams upends Groves

ROYAL OAK — Waterford Our Lady of the Lakes continued to terrorize other small schools in the Catholic High School League Monday and Royal Oak Shrine Catholic was the latest victim.

The Lakers, ranked third in Class D, hammered the Knights 58-30, in a CHSL crossover girls basketball contest.

Carlee Cottrell led three Lakers in double figures with a game-high 19 points. Lexie Robak added 15 points and Tori Duffey supplied 11 points for WOLL (9-1).

Reilly Car scored eight and Sierra Wangler added six points for Shrine (2-10), which was hleld to only 11 field goals and a dismal 7-for-15 performance from the foul line.

Lakes only led 13-11 after the first quarter but used a 16-4 second quarter run and a 20-6 edge in the third frame to blow open the game and built a 51-21 lead entering the fourth stanza.

ROCHESTER ADAMS 62, BIRMINGHAM GROVES 24: Adams rebounded from its first league loss of the season with this 38-point blowout of the Falcons.

Adams opened with a 16-5 run and never looked back to record the OAA White Division victory. The Highlanders used a 21-7 surge in the second quarter for a commanding 37-12 lead at the break and continued to pour it on in the second half, outscoring Groves 25-12 during the final two frames.

Amber Jamison scored 12 and Brittany Boyle scored 11 to lead Adams. Connie DeVries added eight points and both Jenny Rosonke and Lauren Finkelstine scored seven for the Highlanders (8-3, 7-1).

Jordan Blackwell scored 11 for Groves (4-8, 3-4), which was held to only seven field goals in the contest.

RIVERVIEW GABRIEL RICHARD 34, PONTIAC NOTRE DAME PREP 32: Gabriel Richard used a 20-7 run to open the game and withstood the Fighting Irish’s comeback to record this CHSL AA Division victory.

Jenna Roels and Lauren Henderson both scored nine for Gabriel Richard (11-1, 5-0).

Notre Dame Prep, which held Richard to only one point in the second quarter and outscored the opposition 22-13 in the second half, was paced by Sarah Lewallen’s 11 points. Kyaya Bowman added eight for the Irish (5-5, 2-3).
