TUESDAY’S BOYS BASKETBALL ROUNDUP: Everest Collegiate downs Jewish Academy to clinch title share; Country Day downs Holly; Northwest rolls

CLARKSTON — Behind a 16-13 second half, Clarkston Everest Collegiate was able to maintain first place in the CHSL Intersectional Division boys basketball race Tuesday with a 33-32 win over West Bloomfield Jewish Academy.

The win gave Everest Collegiate at least a share of its first-ever league title.

Jewish Academy led 19-17 at the half, before Everest Collegiate went on an 11-5 run in the third quarter for a 28-24 lead.

Jewish Academy held an 8-5 edge in the fourth quarter to come up one point shy of the upset.

Mitch Lasceski scored 12, including a trio of three-pointers, and Richie Cross added eight points for the Mountaineers.

Omer Oppenheim swished four 3-pointers and led the Jaguars with 14 points.

BIRMINGHAM DETROIT COUNTRY DAY 73, HOLLY 57: Country Day used a 30-12 second quarter after trailing 16-14 in the first quarter and wound up winning this non-conference game by 16 points Tuesday on the road.

Both teams scored 29 points in the second half.

Poet Thomas and Mory Diane both scored 16 for Country Day, while Robert Pulekis added 10 points for DCD (11-4).

Austin Hopkin scored 25 and Jared Plawski added 18 points for Holly (11-3).

ROCHESTER HILLS LUTHERAN NORTHWEST 71, PLYMOUTH CHRISTIAN 62: Gursher Rathor poured in a 23 points to lead the Crusaders to this MIAC Blue Division home triumph. Nathan Drews added 16 points and Josh Morrison added 13 points for the Crusaders.

LAPEER WEST 74, ORTONVILLE BRA NDON 69: David Price pumped in a game-high 28 points to lead visiting Lapeer West to this FML road win Tuesday.

The Panthers led 19-9 after the first quarter and 33-23 at the break. Brandon closed  the gap with a 27-18 third quarter only to see the Panthers hold a 23-19 edge in the final frame.

Cody Feltner scored 20 and Quinton Cook and Alex Bageris both added 12 points for Brandon (4-10).
