FRIDAY’S GIRLS BASKETBALL ROUNDUP: Adams downs Athens to maintain OAA-White lead; Lake Orion, Clarkston win

TROY — Rochester Adams built a  13-point lead by at the half Friday end maintained their stranglehold on the OAA White Division girls basketball  lead with ta 61-48 victory over host Troy Athens.

Taylor Houghtlin scored 16 to pace Adams. Amber Jamison chipped in with 12 points and Carissa Roveda added 11 points. Jenny Rosonke provided seven points for the Highlanders, who converted 26 field goals in the game and were 5-for-8 from the line.

Sinclair Russell scored 23 to lead Athens (2-12, 1-10) and Mary Grace Stark followed with nine points for the Red Hawks.

Adams (11-4, 10-1) led 18-10 after the first quarter. The Highlanders added a 16-11 second quarter spurt for a 34-21 and never looked back.

Both teams traded off 27 points in the second half.

LAKE ORION 43, FARMINGTON 35: Lake Orion moved into sole possession of second place in the OAA White and two games back of Rochester Adams with this home win Friday.

Marisa Secontine scored 19 to lead Lake Orion, which trailed 21-18 at the half. The Dragons still trailed 28-24 entering the fourth quarter before going on an 19-7 run in the final frame to prevail.

Melanie Heath added eight points and Hanah Hamay scored seven for Lake Orion (11-5, 8-3).

Aaron Howell scored 17 and Cherrish Willis added 11 points for Farmington (8-9, 6-5).

CLARKSTON 51, WEST BLOOMFIELD 36: Clarkston maintained first place in the OAA Red Division, thanks to this win over the Lakers and Southfield Lathrup’s win over Auburn Hills Avondale.

Tori Trimmer and Erika Davenport both scored 12 for Clarkston (14-2, 8-2) while Megan Hastings was the Wolves’ third player in double figures with 11 points.

 

Sydni Davis pumped in a game-high 23 points for the Lakers while Ashley Ziegler added nine points for West Bloomfield (6-10, 1-9).

PONTIAC 55, TROY 45: Amanda Miller scored 13 for Pontiac and Bronna House added 11 for the Phoenix in this OAA Red Division win.

Sabria Cotton scored 13 and Kari Moss added nine points for Troy.

ROCHESTER STONEY CREEK 41, NORTH FARMINGTON 34: Stoney Creek moved to 10-6 overall and 5-6 inside the OAA Red Division with this win Friday.

Lauren Bolhuis scored 11 to pace Stoney Creek and Gabby Yurik was held to a rare single digits, scoring eight points for the Cougars.

Jasmine Harris scored 12 for North Farmington (7-9, 4-7).
