GIRLS BASKETBALL: Clarkston edges North Farmington to clinch OAA-Red title share

FARMINGTON HILLS — Clarkston received quite a scare on Tuesday night.

In the end, the state-ranked Wolves were still able to clinch at least a tie for the OAA Red Division girls basketball championship.

Clarkston withstood host North Farmington’s late rally to post a 42-40 victory. Only a Clarkston loss Friday and an Auburn Hills Avondale win the same night can force a tie in the final standings. A Clarkston win Friday will give the Wolves (17-2, 11-2) the title outright.

Clarkston built a 25-16 lead at the half and held a 33-27 advantage entering the fourth stanza. North Farmington (10-9, 6-6) closed with a 13-9 run and nearly pulled off the upset.

Freshman Erika Davenport scored 14 points in the paint to lead Clarkston. Delaney Kenny added 10 points and Megan Hastings scored six for the Wolves, who were only 7-for-15 from the foul line. Hastings made 3-of-4 down the stretch from the charity stripe for Clarkston.

Jasmine Harris scored a game-high 16 points for North Farmington. Kaitlyn Kendall added eight points for the Raiders, who also shot just 7-for-15 from the line.
