TUESDAY’S GIRLS BASKETBALL ROUNDUP: Oxford stymies Rochester; Roeper roughs up Oakland Christian

OXFORD — Behind 15 points from Miranda Murphy and another fine defensive effort, Oxford moved into third place in the OAA White Division girls basketball race Tuesday with a 38-26 home win over Rochester.

Jessica Murphy added eight points for Oxford (10-9, 8-5), which can finish in a second-place tie in the league with a home win this Friday over Lake Orion.
The Wildcats led 13-6 after the first quarter and 19-12 at the half. Oxford continued to pull away with a 7-4 third quarter, good for a 26-16 lead, then closed out with a 12-10 run.

Aubrey Konal scored nine and Lindsey Larivee added eight pints for Rochester (6-13, 4-9).

BIRMINGHAM ROEPER 48, AUBURN HILLS OAKLAND CHRISTIAN 37: Trailing 26-22 at the half, Roeper turned the tables Tuesday with a 19-14 third quarter and a game-closing 17-6 to post this MIAC Blue home Division victory.

Tori Farrow scored 16, Nadia Salman added 11 points and Julie Padan chipped in with nine points for the Roughriders (7-12, 4-7)

Amber Harrison scored a game-high 17 points for Oakland Christian (4-15, 2-9), while Becky VanSloten followed with eight points for the Lancers.
