Adams remains in title chase with rout of Berkley
ROCHESTER HILLS — John Hall made an executive decision Saturday morning: Move sophomore Akhemji Williams from shooting guard to the point guard spot.
The Highlanders more than responded, thumping Berkley, 69-30, to remain in the OAA White Division boys basketball title hunt.
Tied at 9-9 midway through the first quarter, Adams closed with a 6-0 spurt to go up 15-9 heading into the second quarter. The Highlanders (11-7, 6-2) went on a 19-8 run in the second quarter for a 34-17 lead at the half.
Adams outscored Berkley 35-9 in the second half, holding a commanding 53-20 lead entering the fourth quarter.
“We moved Williams back to the point. He had been starting at the 2-guard since Christmas,” noted Hall. “I think he played extremely well there and the whole team responded. That was really key for us.”
Williams scored 22 points with11 assists, six rebounds and four steals to pace Adams.
Junior Zack Littleson added 10 points and eight rebounds, junior Ben Limb added 10 points and senior John Niehardt chipped in with 10 points, as four Highlanders reached double figures in the rout.
