TROY — Last season Clarkston made an abrupt turnaround to finish as the runner-up in the OAA Girls basketball standings. This season the Wolves are league champions of the outright fashion.

Needing a win on the final night of the regular season, the Wolves hounded Troy, 61-38, to finish 12-2 overall in the league and won by one game over Auburn Hills Avondale.

Clarkston (18-2) built a 17-9 lead after the first quarter and never looked back, outscoring the struggling Colts (9-11, 4-10) in each of the four quarters.

The Wolves went on a 13-8 surge in the second frame for a 30-17 lead at the half. In the third quarter, it was more of the same, as Clarkston continued to pull away with a 19-12 surge, good for a commanding 49-29 lead entering the fourth quarter. The Wolves

Megan Hastings led Clarkston with a balanced effort of 16 points, draining four 3-pointers on the way. Delaney Kenny added 11 points, Erika Davenport twined eight points and Erin Davenport added seven points for the Wolves.

Rachael Zelmanski scored 11 for Troy. Sydney Heath added nine points for the Colts, who have lost five of their last six games to close out the regular season.
