Eisenhower avenges Lake Orion in regional finals

MT. CLEMENS — It was a year ago that Utica Eisenhower saw it season come to an abrupt end.

Lake Orion ushered the Eisenhower from the Division 1 boys hockey state tournament in the first round with a 10-2 victory.

The Eagles gained a measure of revenge on Saturday night at the Mt. Clemens Ice Arena, posting a 1-0 victory in a D-1 regional final

Stefan Trentacosta scored the only goal of the game for Eisenhower (19-4-1) with 2:18 to go in the second period. Zach Halloran picking up the assist with and Erik Rodak made 21 saves for Eisenhower, which also knocked out Lake Orion in the regional finals twice before in the past eight seasons.

Drew Galasso notched 22 saves for Lake Orion, which finishes the season 16-8-3. The Dragons had won their second regional crown last season and reached the state semifinals for the first time.
