Notre Dame Prep fourth at D-3 cheer finals
GRAND RAPIDS — Richmond was convincing Saturday afternoon in winning its first MHSAA Division 3 competitive cheer state title.
After finishing second to Comstock Park a year ago, the Blue Devils posted a 781.8380 team score to finish well ahead of the eight-school pack. Comstock Park was a distant second (765.4852).
Grosse Ile edged Pontiac Notre Dame Prep for third at the finals, scoring 763.4528 points, just ahead of Notre Dame Prep’s 763.4528 points.
Midland Bullock Creek was way back in fifth (731.3488), while Paw Paw (730.8580), Brooklyn Columbia Central (727.5112) and Gladstone (725.2200) rounded out the team scores.
Richmond won all three rounds to take the overall crown, scoring 229.1 points in Round I to back that up with scores of 238.0380 and 314.7 in the final two rounds.
Notre Dame Prep, the sole area team at the D-3 state meet, posted rounds of 223.3 (fourth), 230.4060 (third) and 309.5 (third).
