OU’s Hamilton named NABC All-District

ROCHESTER HILLS — Oakland’s Reggie Hamilton was selected to the 2012 National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Division I All-District 12 first team, announced by the NABC on Wednesday. Hamilton, a native of Chicago, leads the nation in scoring at close to 26 points per game.

Joining Hamilton on the All-District 12 first team was The Summit League Player of the Year Dominique Morrison (Oral Roberts), and All-Summit League first team members Nate Wolters (South Dakota State) and Alex Young (IUPUI). Detroit’s Ray McCallum was the fifth player named to the first team.

Hamilton broke The Summit League single-season scoring record this season, currently with 821 points. He set a new school record with 15 games of 30 points or more, including seven straight heading in to theCollegeInsider.com Postseason tournament. The senior point guard went over2,000 points for his career earlier this season and has a career-best 104threes this season, fourth-best in program history.

The All-District 12 second team consists of Ryan Broekhoff (Valparaiso), Kendrick Perry (Youngstown State), Alec Brown(Green Bay), Frank Gaines, IPFW) and Kevin Van Wijk (Valparaiso). The Summit League placed a total of 5 of 10 players selected to the All-District 12 team.

All selections are eligible for the NABC Coaches’ Division I All-America teams, which will be announced on Tuesday, March 20.
