MONDAY’S PREP ROUNDUP: Athens rolls over Holly; Oxford whitewashes Walled Lake
HOLLY — Troy Athens opened up the girls soccer season with a new coach and a roster of mostly new players. The Red Hawks still finished up with the same winning tradition.
Athens rolled past host Holly, 8-1, at the Carl Richter Campus in a non-conference game.
Kendall Wachowski scored four times to lead Athens (1-0-0). Gabby Mancini added three assists, while Liz Abro scored twice and both Rachel Martens and Lauren Lewis had single tallies for the Red Hawks.
GIRLS LACROSSE
OXFORD 19, WALLED LAKE UNITED 4: Oxford operated as a club team last season, but in its first official varsity season the Wildcats cashed in big with this non-league win Monday.
The game was the first lacrosse contest on Oxford’s new turf field. The Wildcats had multiple goal scorers to move to 1-0-0 on the season.
