NOTABLES: Avondale won the OAA-Gold title this season and now is competing in the OAA-Blue. There were a few key losses to graduation, and the Yellowjackets will not be favored to win a league this season competing alongside Birmingham Seaholm.

 

 

Auburn Hills Oakland Christian

NOTABLES: With a small band of 12 athletes last spring, the Lancers were still able to muster top-five finishes at the league and regional. With a small and unproven squad once again, minus some quality losses to graduation, and it’s hard to tell just how well Oakland Christian will fair against other small schools in the area.

 

Clarkston

NOTABLES: Clarkston is back on the rise after a couple of down years and should be in the thick of the OAA Red Division race, along with Adams and Rochester. The Wolves could also be a threat to win the regional. What makes Clarkston talented is that it has quality performers in each event that bodes well in a dual setting, but also has a core of 8-9 athletes that can rack up points at the larger meets.

NOTABLES: Lake Orion graduated back-to-back senior classes loaded with talent, leaving this team in a rebuilding mode. The Dragons are the type of team that will benefit from competing in the OAA Red Division, which will prepare them for the regional and county meets with a young squad.

NOTABLES: This could be one of Brandon’s better teams this season, with an explosives group of big-meet sprinters, adequate field events personal and up-and-coming distance crew. Expect this team to challenge for a league title and also score its fair share of points at the county and regional and even the D-1 state finals. The best part of this group that there is very few seniors that will be contributing at the larger meets.

 

Oxford

HEAD COACH: Bob Blunk, second season.

2011 RECORD: 3-0-1, 3-0-1 OAA White Division (had one meet cancelled).

LEAGUE TOURNAMENT FINISH: Third at OAA White Division meet (77.5 points).

NOTABLES: Oxford felt the blow when a handful of athletes opted not to return this season, leaving the Wildcats a little thinner than originally anticipated. This team still has several big-meet performers and will finish in the top half of most meets when healthy.

 

Pontiac

NOTABLES: Two years removed from its Division 1 state championship team, expect Rochester still to up points in bunches at the league, regional and county level. The Falcons may also challenge with Adams and Clarkston for top honors at the league meet, although this team only has a couple of athletes with outside chances of top eight medals at the state finals.

 

Rochester Adams

NOTABLES: An upset loss to Clarkston stunned the Highlanders just before Spring Break. With virtually the whole team back and an exceptionally deep and talented freshman class, expect this team to still compete for league and regional titles and return to the top five at the county meet in May. The Highlanders should also see several athletes score at the state finals. A program with a lot of history, this could end up being one of the school’s better teams.

 

 

Rochester Stoney Creek

NOTABLES: Moving to the OAA-Red, the Cougars will have some formidable athletes in certain events, but not enough of them. Nevertheless, facing stiff competition will aid the Cougars’ cause during the championship season, where they will still score points and send a contingent to the state meet.

KEY NEWCOMERS: There are 30 freshmen on the team, but this group is highly unproven with no phenoms in the group.

KEY LOSSES: Ashley Dauphine (sprints), Theresa Hencie (middle distance), Julia Dinverno (middle distance), Lindsey Miller (middle distance), Emily Herbon (hurdles), Monique Nguyen (high jump, hurdles); Shay Peterson (throws); Sara Lin, sr.(Hurdles, pole vault).

NOTABLES: Troy, which has finished first or second in the league each of the past seven years, has shifted more towards a sprints and field events team as its distance core took a large hit to graduation each of the past two years. Expect the colts to win the OAA white Division (central schools) and maybe be able to win another regional.

 

 

Troy Athens

HEAD COACH: Mike Stallsmith, 21^st season.
