NOTABLES: Although the top singles players graduated, the rest of the top 12 is back from a team that captured a rare league championship for the Yellowjackets. If Avondale can replace its two vacancies in the singles lineup with two capable players, than this team should contend for top honors again in the league this season.

NOTABLES: Holly is a usual suspect when qualifying for the Division 2 state finals, but the real story is what the Bronchos have done in their league. Holly has won an amazing 29 straight FML titles, with such a streak rivaling any school in Michigan in any sport.

Lake Orion

HEAD COACH: Eric Bracciano, fifth season.

2011 RECORD:  6-7-0, 1-6-0 OAA White Division.

NOTABLES: Lake Orion must replace its top five players from last season, including its entire singles lineup, and has completely shifted its returning lineup to new flights. The Dragons may start slow, but could be a sleeper pick later in the season to pull an upset or two. Lake Orion does have plenty of talent, but many of their players are freshmen and sophomores.

Oxford

NOTABLES: Oxford has new tennis courts and offers club tennis only.

Ortonville Brandon

HEAD COACH: Debbie Sebetic.

2011 RECORD: 6-4-1, 4-2-1 Flint Metro League (third overall).

(No. 3); Ariel Mosley, soph. (No. 4); Chia Yang, soph. (No. 4); Quanisha Davis, fr.. (No. 5); Malinali Romeroa, fr. (No. 5).

KEY NEWCOMERS: Monique Benton, jr. (No. 2 doubles); Melissa Penermon, jr. (No. 2 doubles); Dajanae Douglas, fr. (No. 3 doubles); Talisha Williamson, soph. (No. 3 doubles);

KEY LOSSES: Only players from 2, 3 and 4 doubles graduated.

NOTABLES: Pontiac is under the direction of a new coach with a new attitude, as former Detroit Finney coach Phil Riberio takes over a Pontiac program that traditionally is a bottom feeder in the OAA Blue Division and tries to make Pontiac a competitive group. The numbers are already up as the Phoenix have a full lineup on varsity. The Phoenix, not a traditional power, even in the lowest division of the OAA, should be much improved this season after winning only one dual match last season.

NOTABLES: After four straight berths at the state finals, Rochester faces a major overhaul as seven of the top 12 players departed, including the top three singles players and the No. 1 doubles team. The returning retuning seven players will all move to new spots in the lineup, scattered around seven players either up from the junior varsity or freshmen.

Rochester Adams

HEAD COACH: Greg Burks, 11th season.

2011 RECORD: 2-3-2, 2-3-2 OAA White Division.

LEAGUE TOURNAMENT FINISH: OAA White Division meet cancelled.

FINAL LEAGUE FINISH: Tied for fourth overall in in final OAA white Division standings.

REGIONAL FINISH: Tied for fifth at Rochester regional (Eight points).

KEY NEWCOMERS: Halle Hyman, fr. (No. 1 singles; highly ranked USTA player on club circuit).

KEY LOSSES: None.

NOTABLES: With virtually the whole team back, plus one of the area’s premier freshman talents, Adams should be a team on the rise this season. With several other of the area’s team hard hit by graduation, Adams could be a team that contends for a league championship and state finals berth.

KEY NEWCOMERS: Alex Felix, soph. (No. 1 singles).

KEY LOSSES: Angela Schoenhals, jr. (played No. 1 singles last season; moved to Colorado); Alex Sekulovski (No. 2 singles); Kate Feeley (No. 4); Monica Moncini (No. 1 doubles; All-Area First Team); Kristin Hinchman (No. 1 doubles; All-Area First Team); Amanda Freed (No. 2 doubles)’;Marianna Munaco, sr. NOTABLES: The Colts have their third head coach in as many of seasons, but welcome back several players from a squad that has finished in the top 10 in the state the past two years. This is a young team with only three seniors, but a very talented team nevertheless. The colts again will feature a deep doubles lineup to try to gain points on opponents.
