FRIDAY’S BASEBALL ROUNDUP: Troy doubles up rival Athens; Lake Orion blanks Adams
TROY — Troy grabbed bragging rights from rival Troy Athens Friday, posting a 4-2 OAA White Division baseball triumph over the visiting Red Hawks.
Nick Guitar drilled a grand slam in the first inning and Mike Thomas back up the performance with seven strong innings on the mound.
Thomas stuck out five and scattered six hits in the win for Troy (4-2, 2-0). He walked two and gave up two earned runs
Tommy Eng went 2-for-3 with two doubles and an RBI for Athens (1-5, 0-2).
LAKE ORION 11, ROCHESTER ADAMS 0 (5 innings): Lake Orion scored two in the first, four in the second, three in the fourth and two more I the fifth to tame host Adams Friday in OAA Red Division play. The Highlanders put together 11 hits on the day, led by Dalton Ovesen’s 3-for-3 performance which included three RBI. Ryan Lambrecht was 2-for-4 with two RBI and scored four oof the 11 runs. Nick Deeg pitched all five innings, striking out 12 while allowing just one hit against two walks for Lake Orion (7-1, 2-0). Adams dropped to 4-3 overall and 0-2 in league play.
