SOFTBALL: Lakes sweeps Holly
WATERFORD — A 34-run outburst lifted Waterford Our Lady of the Lakes to a commanding 13-2, 21-7 softball twinbill sweep Friday.
In the five-inning opener, Abby Kline picked up the win, striking out six while allowing just three hits. Olivia Imbier was 3-for-4 at the plate with two doubles and two RBI, while Jules Mastromatteo finished 2-for-3 with an RBIN triple.
WOLL broke open a 1-1 tie with a four-run outburst in the third and five more runs in the fourth frame.
The nightcap saw the Lakers build a 3-0 lead through four innings, only to see a 9-6 scoring edge in the fifth inning for a 12-6 lead. WOLL tacked on nine more runs in the top of the seventh.
Mastromatteo was 2-for-6 in Game 2 with a double and home run. Imbier added an RBI double and triple and Kline slapped two hits for Lakes (3-3).
