MONDAY’S SOFTBALL ROUNDUP: Troy edged rival Troy Athens; Rochester rolls over Stoney Creek

TROY — Katie Krajenta outdueled Haley Zemmer from the circle and Krajenta provided the game-winning RBI to lift Troy past Troy Athens, 5-4, in an OAA crossover softball victory Monday.

Camryn LaCarter was 2-for-4 w2ith two RBI and Laney Hart added two hits and another RBI for host Troy (3-0), which plated three runs in the third and single runs in the fifth and seventh innings.

Krajenta struck out 10, walked two, surrendered up five hits and four earned runs for the Colts.

Melissa Palmer was 2-for-4, smacked two doubles and drove in two runs for Athens. Zemmer struck out seven against one walked and scattered 11 hits for the Red Hawks (2-3).

ROCHESTER 14, STONEY CREEK 4 (5 innings): Maggie Irvine was a one-woman wrecking crew as Rochesterupended rival Stoney Creek in this OAA crossover tilt. Irvine was 3for-4, had a double, triple and home run and had a pair of RBI in the Falcons’ win. Mackenzie Dugg supplied three hits and an RBI for Rochester, which gained a four-hitter from Haley Lenberman from the circle which included seven punchouts against one walk from the circle. Rochester (4-2) jumped all over the Cougars with 11 runs in the first three innings before scoring more in the top of the fifth. Stoney Creek(1-2) scored four in the fifth and was paced by Casey Kurks, who had an RBI double.

OXFORD 4-8, IMLAY CITY 0-12: Oxford won the opener and Imlay City came back to win the nightcap Monday in this non-league double-header. Oxford scored two runs each in the fourth and fifth innings in the opener to back the pitching of Kyle Kurczewski, who fanned five and scattered three hits in the complete-game shutout. Cassie Edgemon was 2-for-3 and drove in a run while Allie Edgemon added two hits and scored a run for Oxford. In Game 2, Oxford led 7-3 through four innings but could not hang on, as Imlay City rallied for nine runs in the bottom of the sixth inning.  Autumn Cervantez was 3-for-5 with two RBI for Oxford.

WATERFORD OUR LADY OF THE LAKES 6-8, MARINE CITY CARDINAL MOONEY 2-1: Lakes pounded out this CHSL Intersectional Division sweep Monday of Cardinal Mooney. Game 1 saw Abbey Kline strike out eight and give up four this for the pitching win, while she also batted 3-for-4 with an RBI. Olivia Imbier also added three hits for WOLL (5-1, 2-1). The nightcap saw Angie Mastromatteo go 2-for-4 with an RBI and Kline added an RBI single. Kline gained the win Game 2by striking out five, walking eight and giving up just one hit and one earned run.
