THURSDAY’S PREP ROUNDUP: Notre Dame Prep doubles up Clarkston; Royal Oak downs Oxford

PONTIAC — State-ranked Pontiac Notre Dame Prep handed Clarkston just its second loss of the season Thursday, downing ihe Wolves, 62, in a non-league boys lacrosse match.

Notre Dame Prep led 2-1 after the first q2uarter, then outscored Clarkston, 4-1 in the third quarter for the victory.

For Clarkston Kevin O’Grady had a goal and an assist, Sam More scored the other goal, Reid Kaminski notched an assist.

Defensively, Nick Demattia had seven ground balls and two takeaways, while Ethan Frick had four ground balls and five takeaways for the Wolves.

SOFTBALL

AUBURN HILLS OAKLAND CHRISTIAN 17, WARREN MACOMB CHRISTIAN 9: Oakland Christian pounded out 12 hits with seven stolen bases and 11 walks in this MIAC Red Division victory. Kayla Tison recorded the pitching win with Anna Livy Mullally gaining the save.

BASEBALL

AUBURN HILLS OAKLAND CHRISTIAN 8, BIRMINGHAM ROEPER 7: Jacob Vandervenent provided a clutch RBI single in the eighth to give the Lancers the walk-off run and the MIAC Red division victory.

Luke Combs got the win in relief, pitching 2 2/3 innings giving up no hits and no earned runs while striking out six for the Lancers (4-3, 3-1).

GIRLS SOCCER

ROYAL OAK 4, OXFORD 2: Royal Oak built a 3-1 lead at the half and coasted to the OAA White Division win Thursday.

Brianna Johnson scored with 10:36 left in the first half to tie the game at 1-1, while Shelby Hruska knocked in a free kick by Ellen Saville to account bring the score to within 3-2 in the second half for Oxford.

Darien Bandel made 21 saves in the loss for Oxford.
